Breathless
In a recurring dream I enter a rotunda and find hundreds of musical instruments suspended in eerie silence overhead. It’s as if I’ve stumbled on an ensemble of spirits reveling in a cacophonous and elaborately choreographed flashmob performance. But wary of human contact, they’ve frozen mid beat. Ever so slightly a tuba sways and just as I begin to make out the face of the spirit clutching it, grinning at me between its coiled tubes and valves, I awaken.
